When it comes to adventures with your dog, a trip to the Oregon Coast reigns supreme. Just the thought of your four-legged fur ball bounding up and down the sandy beach is likely enough to have you booking your next trip.
Brush up on leash laws and pet etiquette (like packing out waste) before you go. And be aware of snowy plover nesting season, between March 15 and Sept. 15, when pets are not allowed on some beaches in order to protect this threatened species. Here are some top dog-friendly hotels on the Coast to consider for your next adventure.
Situated right along the shoreline, Beachfront Inn in Brookings allows dogs to join you for your coastal adventure. With private oceanfront balconies, a heated pool, and access to the beach and fishing, you’ll have plenty to entertain you and your pup.
The Gold Beach Inn and Ireland’s Rustic Lodges is the perfect launching point for outdoor adventures, though it’s also a getaway on its own. Enjoy their ocean-facing hot tubs after walking to Gold Beach’s charming downtown, or unwind after a day spent exploring the Wild and Scenic Rogue River. Taylor Creek Lodge, also in Gold Beach is uber pet-friendly — and kid friendly, with kid’s amenities like a fun playground.
Castaway by the Sea in Port Orford has pet-friendly rooms and suites with spectacular ocean views. Experience the magic of the fishing town — and its delicious seafood restaurants — with your dog by your side.
In Coos Bay, both The Mill Casino (gaming included!) and Edgewater Inn (a great affordable choice right on the water) are solid options. On top of a pet friendly policy, Red Lion Hotel offers complimentary bike rentals, complimentary airport shuttle and fitness facilities. Heading to Bandon? Stay right in quaint old town at the cute Bandon Inn with rooms overlooking the marina and shops — but enough above the town to be nice and quiet. If your dog is a beach lover, The Best Western Inn at Face Rock has long stretches of beach and curious rock formations right across the street, plus a large property to wander as well. The property features a pool, and most rooms have well-equipped kitchens.
