Wild Rivers Coast Scenic Bikeway
Looking for 60 miles of serene biking beside a nationally designated wild and scenic river, through lush cranberry bogs and past towering, ballast sea stacks with vast ocean views beyond? Look no further.
Historic Battle Rock Park in Port Orford makes a great starting point. Grab some coffee, enjoy the views of Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve and then take Highway 101 up to Cape Blanco State Park for a great view of the cape, camping with hiker-biker sites and restrooms.
Or head inland on Highway 208 for a 17-mile stretch through the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and along the Elk River, a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River. Another great out-and-back is from Port Orford to Paradise Point State Recreation Site, where you can pedal up to a sandy beach with sunset-worthy ocean views.

Oregon Coast Bike Route
One of the most spectacular rides in the country, the Oregon Coast Bike Route, is a 370-mile jaunt from border to border, but the stretch between Reedsport to Brookings is considered the ultimate gem, with countless panoramic views, plenty of off-the-main-road options, and forested trails to instagrammable beaches. The official map details camping resources, and there are plenty of airbnbs and nice little hotels along the way. September is an optimal time to ride (when tourist traffic drops off); it’s best ridden north to south, to take advantage of normal wind patterns. Don’t miss the lighthouse loop at Winchester Bay, and the wild, rugged Cape Arago Loop and 7 Devils Road sections.
