Great camping, stunning beaches and perfect weather await along Southern Oregon Coast.

With kids back in school and fewer travelers on the road, RV enthusiasts take advantage of quieter rides and cooler weather as they head out on road trips along Oregon’s South Coast. From Reedsport on the Umpqua River, head west through the charming fishing community of Winchester Bay. Then drive south on Highway 101 to great overnight stops in Coos Bay, Bandon, Gold Beach and Brookings. For even more, check out Travel Southern Oregon Coast’s handy camping guide.

Tide Pools and Seafood in Bandon

With easy access to shopping, dining and nature, Bandon RV Park is off Highway 101 in this charming small town south of Coos Bay. It offers 45 full-hookup spaces, cable and free Wi-Fi, and you can catch up on laundry or take a hot shower in the tidy restroom facilities.

For a nearby adventure, park near the interpretive center now housed inside the historic Coquille River Lighthouse and learn maritime history, or stroll along the sand at Bullards Beach State Park. In Bandon, low tide is the best time to explore the tide pools that form around the highly photographed sea stacks at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint. About thirty minutes south, Port Orford’s fishing port and charming galleries are not to be missed.

Enjoy Solitude Between Ophir and Gold Beach

Quiet, spacious, meadow-like campsites draw visitors back to Honey Bear by the Sea camping and RV resort year after year. With walking trails near the beach, a game room, a trout-fishing pond, laundry facilities, a playground and even a dog park, one night might not be enough.

Located between Ophir and Gold Beach, you’ll find beautiful, nearly deserted beaches along this stretch of highway. Arizona Beach State Recreation Site offers a calm and often warm expanse of sand between two rocky headlands.

Head south to Gold Beach for dining and shopping for gifts to take home, like canned smoked salmon or local books. The smoked barbecue meals at Gold Beach BBQ with sweet tea and cornbread hit the spot for dinner. Passing through in the morning? An order of berry crepes or eggs with chicken-fried steak at Indian Creek Cafe will help jump-start your day.

Dramatic Sea Stacks and Hiking in Brookings

If snoozing to the sounds of the surf is high on your bucket list, you can’t get much closer than a stay at Beachfront RV in Brookings, with views of the Pacific. With full- and self-contained RV sites, guests have access to private showers and fire pits.

Another option is settling in for your trip on the Chetco River at AtRivers Edge RV Resort. With laundry, propane, river sites, free Wi-Fi, group campfire rings and an active clubhouse, you’ll also enjoy full hookups.

The southernmost stretch of Highway 101 — with its dramatic cliffs and offshore sea stacks — has no shortage of photo opportunities. Be sure to look for scenic pullouts along the 12-mile Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. Hikers will find trails at Harris Beach State Park and Arch Rock Viewpoint and Picnic Area

Head to Chetco Point Park for panoramic ocean views from some of the most spectacular trails in the area. When you’re done with your hike, try the Hungry Clam in the Brookings Harbor marina or nearby Catalyst Seafood for fresh fish, or a full menu of pork chops, steaks and burgers at The Lucky Pirate Chop House.
