Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston make up a diverse area of historic charm, natural beauty and outdoor adventure known as Oregon’s Adventure Coast. Each town preserves its independence while forming part of a vibrant regional community on Oregon's South Coast.
Driving from the north down Highway 101, the majestic McCullough Bridge ushers travelers into the City of North Bend. The Oregon Coast’s only commercial airport also sits on the edge of the Bay, providing transportation by air to the region. The area was once a timber hub where daily life was built around the harbor and sawmill. Now Main Street, just down the road from the bridge, features walkable streets with shops, restaurants, and cafés tucked amidst those same hallmarks of Pacific Northwest life.
Outside of town, towering coastal dunes and long expanses of unbroken shoreline are a short drive away. Walk Horsfall Beach and watch the waves roll in, or summit 500 foot sand dunes by foot, horseback, or dune buggy. With the City surrounded on three sides by the waters of Coos Bay, close access to water is built into North Bend’s appeal, making maritime sports, boating, fishing, and crabbing easily accessible. However, easy access isn’t for everyone. Challenging treks into the wilderness still await the daring on the Southern Oregon Coast.
