The welcoming little coastal town of Langlois is absolutely worth a stop, especially if outdoor adventure or hot dogs are of interest.
Langlois is a small yet wonderfully quirky community on hwy 101 between Bandon and Port Orford. Be sure to stop in at Langlois Market and grab a “world famous” hot dog with their house-made mustard. And check the schedule for the Langlois Cheese Factory, which doesn’t make cheese, but is an incredible live music venue. It’s just a few miles from the Ocean as well as the Floras Lake State Natural Area, which is a draw for kiteboarding and windsurfing, not to mention fishing and boating. Cape Blanco State Park is also close, which offers hiking, camping and breathtaking views of the Lighthouse and shoreline. Oh, if you’re wondering how to say the town’s name and you’re getting that French pronunciation vibe, the locals actually pronounce the “lois” in Langlois to rhyme with Joyce: Lang-loyce.
