The welcoming little coastal farming community of Langlois is absolutely worth a stop, especially if you love the outdoors.
Langlois is a small yet wonderfully quirky community on Highway 101 between Bandon and Port Orford. Be sure to stop in at Langlois Market and grab a “world famous” hot dog with their house-made mustard. Check out the schedule for the Langlois Cheese Factory, although they no longer make cheese, it is an incredible live music venue. It’s just a few miles from the ocean as well as the Floras Lake State Natural Area, which is a draw for kiteboarding and windsurfing, not to mention fishing and boating. Cape Blanco State Park is also close, which offers hiking, camping and breathtaking views of the Lighthouse and shoreline. Oh, if you’re wondering how to say the town’s name and you’re getting that French pronunciation vibe, the locals actually pronounce the “lois” in Langlois to rhyme with Joyce: Lang-loyce.
