As interest in Oregon’s outdoor recreation grows, so does the need to preserve and protect our treasured natural assets. Until now there has been no master toolkit for how to share our values for recreating with respect. Prompted by the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Initiative, a diverse group of stakeholders participated in the development of “Take Care Out There,” a new communication toolkit to help promote responsible recreation in Oregon and ensure outdoor opportunities for health, connection, and joy for generations to come.

Oregon Coast Visitor’s Association
In 2023, The Oregon Coast Visitor Association partnered with Kind Traveler to enhance sustainable and regenerative tourism on the Oregon Coast.
Kind Traveler makes it easy for travelers to make a positive impact in the communities they visit, advancing sustainable and regenerative tourism principles.
Kind Traveler launched the Every Stay Gives Back (ESGB) Community Impact Program, turning EVERY SINGLE HOTEL STAY in your community into an opportunity for positive impact with participating lodging partners, regardless of where the booking originates. Advancing both sustainable and regenerative tourism principles, ESGB creates a formalized, third-party giving program for destinations and hotels to mobilize funds to local nonprofits and solve community and/or environmental challenges in destinations. Kind Traveler verifies monthly donations and provides hotels with a QR code, landing page, a custom wood plaque, and impact reports to communicate e-mails easily.
Travel Southern Oregon Coast proudly invested in The Wildflower Inn in Gold Beach to join the Kind Traveler “Every Stay Gives Back Program”.
The Wildflower Inn, in partnership with Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program, supports Elakha Alliance. The mission of Elakha Alliance is to Restore a healthy population of sea otters to the Oregon coast and thereby make Oregon’s marine and coastal ecosystem more robust and resilient. Through our community impact program, $1 per night will fund Elakha Alliance. 100% of funds are given to Elakha Alliance.
